Zelgadis Graywords gazed into Princess Nepha of Feli's deep, enchanting green eyes with a lazy smile crossing his lips. She was looking right back into his mysteriously deep blue eyes with the same expression, and was curled happily into the warm circle of his arms. She was everything to him, and he knew very well that she realized this.
Search your heart, search your soul,
And when you find me there you'll search no more.
Nepha ran her hand gently across Zelgadis' bare chest, still finely slicked with sweat. She had searched for months, searched her own heart each time she met someone new. Then, she found Zelgadis. It had most definitely been love at first sight. They had started off on the wrong foot, but the next step had been the end of the search for her.
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for.
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for.
So many times had Zelgadis fought for her. He reached up and took hold of the small hand that was running across his chest, gently kissing the fingertips. He would gladly try anything for her. No one would ever convince him that it wasn't worth dying for, to be with her.

Everything Nepha knew, he knew, and vice versa. They didn't feel that they should hide anything from one another. There wasn't anything TO hide. They had told each other almost every secret about their past, every wish for their future. Anything untold was best left that way.

I would give it all, I would sacrifice.
Many-a-time, Zelgadis had willfully offered his life. Up against the deadliest of opponents, he would go into the battle with no more than his bared hands. That was a sacrifice. They had sacrificed themselves to each other as well...

Nepha wanted nothing more than to stay that way forever, lying there in Zelgadis' arms, with her head resting on his chest. Her cat-like hearing easily caught the soft, steady beat of his heart. What greater thing could there be than to be resting comfortably in the arms of her lover?

And no other could give more love.
Zelgadis smiled inwardly. He had been with other women, yes. He had that experience where at their first time, Nepha did not. But none of the other times had been like this. None had been like Nepha. There were none of the others that could even compare, give as much love to him as she did, actually opening her heart and soul to him all the while.
There's nowhere unless you're there,

Nepha often pondered what it would be like if he wasn't there. Then, she realized it would be nothing, nowhere. He had to be with her for her to even feel complete at all. Just so she could look into those midnight blue eyes, touch his hand...

Zelgadis conceded that this was everything. He didn't feel that there was anything they needed to work on, anything they needed to change. He loved Nepha, Nepha loved him. It was mutual, and that was all they needed. That was all the assurance that Zelgadis needed.

Nepha knew that there was nothing Zelgadis wouldn't do for her. He had fought for her... he had lied for her... he had walked the wire and nearly died before. What else was there he could do? And as she fell asleep, curling warmly against his firm chest, she decided one final thing. . .everything he did, he did it for her.
